How To Install Simple Trainer & Use Construction Files

Notes

1: In order to use the construction .ini files, you will need to have Simple Trainer installed onto the game.

2: The steps in this tutorial only cover the physical disc versions of Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City.

It does not include instructions for the Steam or downloadable versions of those games, nor does it include instructions for versions of Grand Theft Auto IV: Complete Edition.

3: Simple Trainer requires a keyboard with a numeric pad in order to navigate around its menus.

General controls - F3 opens the menus and backspace closes the menus.

Numeric pad controls - 8 scrolls up, 2 scrolls down, 4 scrolls left, 6 scrolls right, 5 selects and 0 goes back.

Part A: Installing Simple Trainer

Follow the steps below to install Simple Trainer.

Already have Simple Trainer installed? If yes, skip Part A and jump down the page to Part B.

Step 1:

Download Simple Trainer from this page. Click Download Mod, then click Download on the version of Simple Trainer that you wish to use. (For details about the different versions, see this page.) In order for the constructions to work correctly, it is mandatory to use version 6.4 or newer.

Objects are handled differently in older versions of Simple Trainer, which could cause the objects in the constructions to load in wrong locations and/or with incorrect rotations.

Step 2:

Extract the contents of the .rar file somewhere. (Not in any of the game's folders, though.) If you don't have a program which can unpack .rar files, you can download a free one — called 7-Zip — here.

Step 3:

To install Simple Trainer onto Grand Theft Auto IV, copy the extracted ScriptHook.dll, ScriptHook.dll - OLD PATCHES, Trainer.asi and trainer.ini files, then paste them into the root folder of the game. (By default, the folder's address is Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV.)

To install Simple Trainer onto Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City, copy the extracted ScriptHook.dll, ScriptHook.dll - OLD PATCHES, Trainertbogt.asi, trainertbogt.ini, Trainertlad.asi and trainertlad.ini files, then paste them into the root folder of the game. (By default, the folder's address is Rockstar Games\EFLC.)

Et voilà! Simple Trainer should now be successfully installed onto the game(s)!

For more instructions and help regarding the use of Simple Trainer, please refer to the readme.doc files included in the Simple Trainer .rar files downloads.

Part B: Adding Construction Files

Follow the steps below to add construction files.

Don't have Simple Trainer installed? (You need this!) If no, postpone Part B and jump up the page to Part A.

Step 1:

Download the construction .ini file that you wish to add.

Step 2:

To add the construction .ini file to Grand Theft Auto IV, copy the file, then paste it into the root folder of the game. (By default, the folder's address is Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV.)

To add the construction .ini file to Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City, copy the file, then paste it into the root folder of the game. (By default, the folder's address is Rockstar Games\EFLC.)

Et voilà! The construction file should now be successfully added to the game(s)!

Part C: Loading Additional Objects From Construction Files

Follow the steps below to load additional objects into the game from construction files.

Step 1:

Launch the game and load your game data as you would normally. (For good measure, ensure that all of the game folders are closed beforehand.)

Step 2:

Once in-game, open the Simple Trainer menus to get to the Main Menu.

Step 3:

Scroll up or down to the Object Spawning option and select it to get to the Object Spawn menu.

Step 4:

Scroll up or down to the Load Objects from objects.ini option and select it. This will load the additional objects from the .ini file that was added to the game.

Once all of the additional objects have been loaded, (By default Simple Trainer settings.) confirmation text will display in the format of # Objects Loaded. (Where "#" will show the number of objects that were loaded.)

Et voilà! The construction file additional objects should now be successfully loaded in-game!

Part D: Removing Additional Objects

Follow the steps below to remove additional objects from the game.

Step 1:

Open the Simple Trainer menus to get to the Main Menu. (If not already open.)

Step 2:

Scroll up or down to the Object Spawning option and select it to get to the Object Spawn menu.

Step 3:

Scroll up or down to the Delete Last 500 Spawned Objects option and select it. This will remove all of the additional objects that were loaded into the game.

Once all of the additional objects have been removed, (By default Simple Trainer settings.) confirmation text will display Last 500 Objects Deleted.

Don't worry, removing the additional objects in-game — which were loaded from construction .ini files — does not delete or otherwise affect objects from the aforementioned files in any way.

Et voilà! The additional objects should now be successfully removed in-game!
